Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire...

Jack Frost nipping at your nose. That Jack Frost.. so fresh!!

Everyone here at Aloud HQ would like to wish you all the happiest of holidays, the merriest of Christmases, and whatever else you do. Oh and a happy new year too!

I'm be flying to Raleigh, NC tonite and Henry's already left to Miami, FL to go see his folks. Ross and Roy will be holding down the fort here in Boston with their loved ones. If you see Roy at the Pill this Friday make sure he plays no KENO. Dear me!

With a love that will echo through the ages,
(yeah about four people get that)

This past week's madness

In yet another strange turn, I was able to go to bed at a decent hour, but could not stay asleep past 3:30 AM. Which can only mean it's blog time!

Last week was incredibly busy/fun/exhausting, beginning with Sunday night. We went into the WFNX studio to do an interview for New England Product, which our pal Dave recently began hosting on a regular basis. I was always a fan of FNX, but I have to say I was really impressed and the passion for music there was palpable. One thing that really knocked me out was a simple printout framed on the studio wall titled Four Rules For Working at FNX. I can't remember the last three for the life of me, but the first one was enough:

1. Always respect the music.

We had a laugh with Dave, and had a few interesting calls while we were off the air. I plan to post the interview up on the website by the end of the month. Unless I'm lazy. Then you'll have to wait.

We need to get this album out post haste.

Tuesday, Jen and I went to the Middle East Christmas party. It was fun hanging out with some people we don't get to see too often. Plus, the food was phenomenal. And free. Didn't stick around for too long, though. Got crowded, and I was pretty tired.

Wednesday, a very nice article came out about us in a paper started by B.U. students (The Source). You can read the article here.

Friday was probably the most exhausting day. Actually, no, it was definitely the most exhausting day. We did the FOX 25 Morning News show that morning, which meant getting up at the crack of dawn to be there at 6:45am. First thing, some young intern girl asks us if we're "the guys with the alcohol". We thought news journalism was decadent, but this was outrageous! (Turns out they were doing a segment on holiday drinks). Everyone there was extremely nice and very accomodating. We talked to the weather guy, A.J. Burnett, and found out that drumming is one of his hobbies. Kim Carrigan interviewed us and we went right into Beaches. The monitor situation there isn't nearly as bad as I've heard through the grapevine. It sounded great over there, but the mix that came through the TV wasn't the greatest (very little bass, fluctuating guitar volume, weak drums). But hell, I can't honestly complain since we were on TV. I plan to post the video next month on the site.

The trouble with such an early morning like that is that it screws you up when you have to play a late gig the same night. We all took naps, but that didn't seem to help much. Still, the gig at the Pill was fun (even though we were pretty worn out by the time we hit the stage-- 11:15pm). We set up the stage with Christmas lights, balloons.. during Beaches, Jen left the stage to take a few Polariods with the audience. Roy was in a festive mood and wore a Santa hat most of the night. Our pal (from Unbusted) Ben was doing sound that night, and was messing around with recording the set as well. I might wind up posting that if and when that goes through. Damn good sound man, though. Lots of people were telling us how clear everything sounded. We were going to have an afterparty at our place, but at close to 3am, everyone including us was ready to pass out. Just one of those Fridays, I guess, but it was welcomed. I desperately needed the sleep, and (not counting a useless nap) was nearly up for 24 hours.

But anyway, I want to thank everyone who came on Friday, who have supported us this week (and beyond this week), and anyone who's ever helped us out in any way. I often say that I still feel I'm in that band that has trouble bringing out more than 2 people to a show on a weekend, so the support you all give is sincerely appreciated.

Okay.. I should probably.. well.. I'd love to go to bed, but unfortunately it's 7:00am. D'oh!

Cheers,
Henry

The Big Day

Well tomorrow, Friday Dec 16, will be our last little hooray for a while. Tune into Fox 25 Mornng News on your TV set. We go on for an interview around 8AM and then play a song. It's going to be lots of fun.

After being up that early we're going to take some long naps and then head over to Great Scott for that nite's show at the Pill. We'll have some holiday goodies for you to have. Also some surprises in the set as well as many, many songs from our album that we're trying very hard to make avaliable to you.

It's been such a fantastic year and it'll be worth to party with all of you on Friday. A special thanks to Dave Duncan, Paul Driscoll, Michael Marotta, Carm, and Shred for all their help in the last couple weeks. See you soon!

John Lennon

I always remebered this day when I was a kid in high school. VH1 would play Beatle and Lennon clips all day. I'd just sorta watch and be in state of awe. Back then it was like my Good Friday. How morbid eh? For those that don't know John Lennon died today, December 8th in 1980 just months after his 40th birthday. So I think I'll go home today and revisit some records and watch some specials.

The Noise Poll (we've been nominated, vote for us!)

So it's that time again. The Noise's best thingies of the year. This year we are so proud to present Jen De La Osa of our little band Aloud. She has been nominated for best Female Vocal and also nominated is one of our songs "Beaches" which is a local favorite in the beantown. I don't know about you guys but I'm voting for Mach 5 as best band to return from the dead. I'm just kidding but just so you know, you can only vote once from every computer but that doesn't mean I'm telling you to go to more than one computer or anything........ like........ that... Vote now, vote often!

Things to read while trapped in the snow.

So many things to blog about on this beautiful predictable snowy day/morning in New England. We have been practicing new songs and they're coming along pretty well. If I didn't know any better I’d say that they rock. It’s not like I play in the band or anything..........right? Anyway, you're cold and I’m cold so I’ll cut to the skinny. We've most recently acquired a new friend, or just a friend helping us out (After a little persuading with a little talk about new cement footwear) with promo and merchandise cause we know you love the t-shits (sorry guys, I had to) and key chain CD openers......yeah, a CD opener on a key chain. This item is for all you music lovers to get back at those stupid spine labels and whatnot. We’re not taking their shit ant more! Sorry, I got a little carried away there but back to bidness'.
On Dec.11, we’ll be on WFNX New England Product with Dave Duncan at 10pm. This guy puts on a great radio show so you should tune in. No in-studio performance, but still a great radio show nonetheless.

The real kicker though is on Dec. 16, which is when we make our television debut on Fox 25 News. It starts at 8:00 am and we perform a song then an interview followed with another performance. These guys at Fox are hilarious so you should surely check it out. During that broadcast we will be plugging our last show of the year, which is on the same day. It will be the best closing show of 2005 especially because it's at Great Scott. Great Scott is a kick ass rock club and it's in the middle of Allston so it’s easy to get to. Also, DJs Ken and Terrance will be spinning on that night too. There will be plenty of goodies too so make sure you're there at 9:00 to join in the festivities (I’m sorry.... that word was uncalled for). If you get there before 11pm it's only $5, otherwise it's $7 there after.

Well that's all for now. I must get back to my newly purchased Super Nintendo. I played NBA Jam with my good friend Kris from The Luxury. They are a great band but he's not a great ball player. Anyway, if you wanna hear more fun factoids from me, I’ll see you at the show...........and don't ask me for more fun factoids.

Cheers.

Roy

Mellow Yellow

Taking it easy this weekend. Well, easier... I'm sitting here (watching the wheels go round and round) getting some cds ready to be sent out. The press awaits 5 tracks from the cd. I know you may be wondering when you're going to get a copy. I'm wondering that myself. What can you do? Well keep supporting us. Let Boston know you want this thing to get put out. Word will get around and make it easier for us when we're trying to get ahold of these record company guys... So here's what you can do....

1) Request "Beaches" or "All I Can Do" at these fine stations:
FNX (101.7FM in Boston or 92.1 FM in NH & So. Maine)
781-595-9369
WBCN (104.3FM) 617-931-1041
WAAF (107.3FM) 617-931-1223
on Sunday nights starting at 10pm. Out of the region? Listen here.

2) Listen to us on FNX's New England Product on Dec. 11 @ 10pm. Call in and harass us.

3) Be sure to tune in to watch us on FOX 25's Morning News show on Dec 16th. We'll be interviewed and play a song. This will happen at 8am. If you can't get to a TV set your VCR. Ratings up while we play is a good thing.

4) Keep coming to the shows and hooting and yelling how you have been. In fact this time around bring some more friends. You'll get another chance on Dec. 16. Come to the best party in town that night at the Pill (Great Scott). We've got some cool things planned for the set. It'll be a knockout. Come out and dance.

So that's where we're at now. Trying to get this record out. Wanna hear some of it? Sign up on our mailing list here and you'll recieve a password to the members area where you can hear to tracks, "All I Can Do" and "Can You Hear Me Now?", in their entirety. You'll also get to hear 30 second clips of "Slipped In Your Dream" and "Godspeed" plus a whole mess of other exclusives that you'll keep receiving monthly.
Ok this is getting to be too long. Thanks for everything folks. You really all are the grooviest.

Kisses,
Jen
