Hello to the Netherlands and more songs

I'd like to welcome all our friends from the Netherlands who added us this week. I imagine you probably found us on Rebel Radio. Thanks Marc! Not sure when we'll have a chance to head out there, but fear not for all things are possible through rock n roll.

Also, there's more tracks from our upcoming album, Leave Your Light On, for your listening pleasure here. In fact all the tracks on the player are from the new album in some form. 3 studio cuts including "Beaches", "All I Can Do" (a personal favorite), and "Wouldn't It Be Sweet". When you click on those you'll also see a pic of the album cover as well. There's also still the live cut of Godspeed (studio version on album of course) that's avaliable for download. Just click the button...

I'm feeling so generous... here's some more info...

Leave Your Light On

1. Release

2. Palm of Your Hand

3. Beaches

4. Can You Hear Me Now?

5. All I Can Do

5. Slipped In Your Dream

6. Bleeding Heart

7. Love is a Beast

8. Wouldn't It Be Sweet

9. Late Last Nite

10. Godspeed

And there you have it... the tracklisting for our splendid little disc. And I still like it.

Also, give a listen to these fantastic bands I've been loving recently.. The Arcade Fire and the Arctic Monkeys...

It's nice to be so excited about bands.

One by one, ticking timebombs won.

Just found out one of my favorite bands in the area broke up. I won't name names, in the hopes that it's something that's not final, but damn. They were really damn good and I was looking forward to hearing new stuff from them. I'm bummed about it. If you're going out tonight, have a few drinks in memoriam.

Roy moved into the neighborhood (finally!), so now the Nexus is complete and all four Alouds live in a one-block radius. Not sure if that's cool or if it's just sad, but either way... no more out of the way trips to Watertown!

We were on Scamper's third podcast last week, Can You Hear Me Now? made it's podcast debut as did some of Jen's drunken babble. I had a few things to say to Nate's digital recorder yesterday, so let's see if that makes it in a couple of weeks. Ha!

What else... what else..

Oh yes, album artwork is all but complete. We're looking at a release for it in very early May.

What's it going to be called? What's going to be on it? How much longer are you going to lead us on, ya fucks?!

Okay okay. *ahem* Our 11-song album is going to be called Leave Your Light On. I'd also like to take a moment to dispel any rumors on the title: it has nothing to do with another record of a similar name. Most of you should know it's a lyric in Godspeed (which if you haven't heard, you should download the live version here). However, our next single is going to be called What A Frame.

Kidding. Or am I?

As for what's going to be on it:
1. Release
2. Palm of Your Hand
3. Beaches
4. Can You Hear Me Now?
5. All I Can Do
6. Slipped in Your Dream
7. Bleeding Heart
8. Love is a Beast
9. Wouldn't It Be Sweet
10. Late Last Nite
11. Godspeed
And there you have it. That's all the news that's fit to blog.

Oh wait, right, we're playing Harper's Ferry next Thursday and you all had better come! Or else. Or else what?

Exactly.

Huh?

Cheers,
Henry

Last Night at the Death Disco

Just a quick thank you to all the folks who showed and stuck around for us at Death Disco last nite. NYC is always so kind and we were glad to make a one night stand. Thanks to DJ Mojo and BP Fallon and of course to our own Annie Burns.

March 30 marks the next NYC show at Pianos. We're playing with a stellar pack: Motion Picture, Kelly Buchannan, and Unisex Salon and should be on around 10pm. This'll be the last NYC gig till May when our new album, Leave Your Light On, comes out. Speaking of last gigs till May... Boston your last gig till May will happen next week!! March 2 at Paper hosted at Harper's Ferry. It'll be a gas.

Music Video

Hooray, we finished the music video for beaches. Our director Tom "Fitzi" did an unbelievable job on it. It should be released within the next couple of months or so for your viewing pleasure. It has plenty of spunk and all the pizzaz you could dream of. If you need some more aloud before the video is out, then you can check out our website at www.allthingsaloud.com to hear more of our artistic craft. For now, you can hear Godspeed and downlaod it as well. Well, that's all for now for i have to get back to work. See y'all later. -

I must have crossed the Rubicon

I don't care much for the Grammys, but I do care about bands. And one of my favorite bands royally cleaned up again. The nominees weren't too shabby either, which leaves me with some hope for the world of music at large.

The moments were everything comes together.. I live for those. The knowledge that you're surrounded by really supportive and good people

We're brainstorming on some very big ideas and I'm so excited. Aside from the record and a UK tour in the summer (which is in the preliminary stages at this point), nothing is set in stone. Still, just talking about these other things is enough to get me going. Everyone on earth realizes things when they're too late most of the time. Everyone. That's why moments when you turn that on its ass are amazing. There is no "one day". It's like they say, Today is the first day of the rest of your life, so there's no sense in fucking about.

You'd be excited too if you were planning on writing in MUSICIAN as your occupation on your 1040.

This weekend is going to be pretty busy. Friday (tentative) and Saturday we're going to be filming our very first video, for Beaches. The director, Tom Fitzgerald, seems like a kid who's real together and at least sounded like he knows what he's doing. No word on when that video will be available, but I, for one, am anxious as hell.

Speaking of video, that FOX 25 footage from December I promised unfortunately cannot be provided. It's due to licensing issues with the station (they don't license to websites). A total bummer, I know, but ya'll are smart kids. I'm sure you'll figure out a way to download it somewhere someday.

We're also taking the final pictures for the album art, which is fucking awesome. Our old friend Eddie Gutierrez is taking the photos, and he's been a big help with working out the art concept. This is like one of the last things we have left to do, and then it's off to the plant to get pressed.

Pre-production on the record began last April, recording went from May-August, and the mixes were finalized and mastered in October. So as you can tell, I'm incredibly anxious to get this record out. Nothing official just yet, but it looks like this puppy's finally gonna be out in early May. Not so bad, considering it's been finished since late October. That's like what, 7 months? Actually, that kinda sucks. This must be what being pregnant is like, minus the stretch marks.

I long for the days of 1 to 2 records a year being the norm again.

Last thing.. the show at Connecticut College last weekend was a friggin blast. We played something like 90 minutes, and we all have massive fun. Playing colleges is great. Students seem so much more interested in music, at least in a purer sense. It's the best when you grab someone who yes, has their favorite bands, but is more interested in just seeing music. And for that, we thank you, the kids at Conn. Coll. (and Laura for booking us!). Laura was even nice enough to get us a hotel room for the night, where chaos commenced with us, Ale (Jen's sis), and our roadie "Johnny Smokz".

I actually tried to write out a blog on some scrap paper that night after 5 Amber Bocks, brandy, Mike's Hard Berry, little sleep, and god knows what the fuck else. Let's try to decipher:
Hi Everyone! I'm here in New London, CT we just finished playing Connecticut College and had a goddamn blast!! Colleges are always fun, everyone there was very nice and really enjoyed the show we're all
we're all hanging out in a holiday inn Right now having a few beers. My writing is getting realy sloppy now and will probably look really funny in the monring- HA!

Thanks for Laura for having us play. Now, let me see if I can remember a few names... Jeff, Cline... or clam? and then
............I prefer "Cryptic" to "Drunken Buffoon" myself.

Anyway, I should probably be getting to bed, kids. Thanks for reading!

Goodnight!

Cheers,
Henry

A little more news

Make plans. We will be playing our last Boston show before our cd release on Thursday, March 2. It will be at the new indie rock dance night Paper held at Harper's Ferry (yeah who'd have thought?). Listen to the music, dance to the music, drink to the music. We'll be MIA in April and should be back in May to release the album. More news on that later. See ya on March 2.

NYC fear not, we'll be there in a couple weeks...for FREE...

Godspeed to us all.

Well hello, I didn't see you there.......... Anyway, I’m pleased to announce that we have just put up our first live song. The new "single" Godspeed is available on our website for your listening pleasure. It was taken from the last show we played in 2005 at Great Scott in Allston, Ma. The sound guy (Ben from the Unbusted..... I don't know his last name) mixed it and uh, mixed it. Also, we have new pictures up on the website as well. The ones only worth looking at are the bass players pics. Even though I do the MySpace blogs for Aloud, I’m also secretly turned on by him and dude..... it’s the hair. Now back to things less sexy. The new pics are up and if you’re in the area come by and see us at Bills bar on Lansdowne St. in Boston. Hopefully we'll see you there, if not, you’re probably in the hospital or something. Stay safe........

Your neighborhood D.A.R.E. administrator,

Roy Blaze
