What do YOU want to hear next?

It's that time again to rotate a tune from Leave Your Light On on the MySpace player. Release will have to go and another song must take it's place. This time we're leaving it up to you. Chime in on this blog and tell us what song you want to hear next. Beaches, All I Can Do, and Godspeed are already on there, so you can't pick those. Also don't pick Release because we just had it on there. :)

You can listen to the entire album here. And if you feel like buying it afterwards you can do that as well.

Ok chime away...

Cheers,

Jen

P.S. Tomorrow we begin filming the video for Can You Hear Me Now? We'll have photos from the shoot after the weekend.

New vid/Tickets for Robbers on High Street

Good morning/afternoon/evening.. wherever this may find you.

Been a while since I posted one of these, so I thought I'd say hello. We start filming the video for Can You Hear Me Now? this weekend with Beaches director Tom Fitzgerald. We'll have the help of a couple actor friends of ours in this one. We'll be going for a slightly more surreal feel for this one and hopefully we'll have it up by the end of Nov. for you; a little holiday treat as it were.

In the meantime we've still been shutting ourselves in the rehearsal space working out new songs. We've got about five new ones right now with a couple more in the works. You may get to hear some soon enough...

What am I talking about? Well, if you've noticed we've added two shows to the schedule for November. The first at Bill's Bar for the FNX New England Product night with Violet Nine and the Break Mission. The other is a very special treat.. We'll be supporting Robbers on High Street at the Middle East Upstairs on Nov. 29. Those new tunes? They may just be ready for this one. You can buy tickets for the show at Ticketmaster or in person at the Middle East Box Office. Here's some great flyers Henry made up for the show...

Again if you still haven't heard the album take a listen here. Then go buy it here or here. Or download some free tracks here. That's all the news for now. I'll let you know how the video shoot goes.

Cheers,

Jen

Another Tower Falls

Hey all. Just a quick note about our record. This mainly concerns Boston folk. Tower Records has been bought out and therefore won't be stocking Leave Your Light On. So please don't go down there expecting to find a copy. But please feel free to buy one here.

Cheers,

Jen

Can You Hear Me Now?

We had a meeting with Tom on Wednesday. You remember him? He did the video for "Beaches". So we finally had this meeting about doing a video for "Can You Hear Me Now?". This is going to be a very different video from "Beaches". Lots of surreal images and a storyline running through it. I think you'll enjoy it very much. I don't want to divulge too much information about the story since I'd like for it to be surprise and open to interpretation. Nothing mind blowing. I'm not saying we're trying to make a video about the meaning of life kiddies. If you take a listen to the song the story's all there anyway. Speaking of, if you haven't listened to the album yet you can here. Or better yet buy it here.

You may have noticed noticed we've added a Boston date. We'll be at Bill's Bar for another FNX night on Nov. 10 with Violet Nine and the Break Mission. We're on in the middle at 11pm. I know you New Yorkers have been asking about a New York date. It's being worked on and we'll put it up as soon as we have it. I imagine those shows would probably round up the year for us as we're working on new material still. Second album is shaping up nicely. We actually just did some more demos this past Saturday.

Cheers,

Jen

They say the devil's water it ain't so sweet.

Anyone else get a chance to listen to the new Killers album? I'm not certain just yet, but I think this could be one of those albums that I'll dimiss for a week, then will enjoy it more and more with every listen until I think it's absolutely brilliant. Most of my favorite music has gone that route, so I'm hopeful. In any case, When You Were Young is a fantastic song I wish I'd written. Before I go any further, I'd like to say a) yes, I like the Killers. I think Hot Fuss is a good album and I had to make myself not listen to it after having it on repeat for a good two months, and b) Roy, you can kiss my ass. The Bravery suck, and this is an objective fact. I realize the Killers could be major douchebags personally, but I'm sure they could easily get into Great Scott on a Friday night without getting into a fight with the bouncers.
(I really don't care, actually. I thought I could be amusing and topical by bringing that anecdote up. I was there that night and I still didn't notice anything so... what the hell do I know? However, Roy: I will challenge you to fisticuffs!).

But ANYWAY (Chuck Klosterman much?), if I can see that I'm going to think Sam's Town is brilliant *eventually*, does that mean I *already* think it's brilliant? Is this some sort of time paradox?

I actually bought it off of iTunes. Don't get me wrong, I love, love, love the fact that iTunes exist and people use it. I think digital downloading is the next big medium. But personally, I need to have a CD. I need physical artwork. I need to have the superior quality that uncompressed audio provides (never you mind 95% of what I listen to nowadays is off my iPod— I just need to know the option is there). But my folks inadvertently put a monkey wrench in the works by getting me an iTunes gift card. So you tell me.. do I get up off my ass, take the train down to Newbury St, pay $11.99-plus-tax, take the train all the way back to Allston, and then rip this onto iTunes? OR do I just give in to convenience (and Jen's calls to "just fucking do it, man")?

That being said, buy my band's album and it will please me.
for the iTunes camp: link
for the OCD-like-Henry camp: http://www.cdbaby.com/aloud2

So ANYWAY (definitely Chuck Klosterman), based on my future appraisal of the Killers album, I would recommend you grab this up.After you buy my album. We're certainly better than the fucking Killers (he says with a smirk, certainly not taking a page from the book of Oasis).

I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of crap for vast portions of this blog.

Cheers,
Henry

Apparently we all got the memo.

Sometimes that's how shit goes down. You get together to practice, and everyone comes in with a red t-shirt. And not just any red, either. I'm talking practically the EXACT SHADE OF RED. No planning. No phonecalls. It just happens. Everyone takes off their jacket/sweater, and blammo. One has a picture of a GameCube controller (video game nerd); one with the Duff Beer logo (TV nerd); another with the Rolling Stones tongue (music nerd); and finally the plain red t-shirt (Econ Major....... nerd).

We are a big bunch of nerds.

Naturally, Hugh had the innate wisdom to wear white. But he's not in the band, now is he? I've also posted those pictures from last night's rehearsal (since I wound up leaving my camera there).

After slogging away at this for weeks, I actually had a really good time at practice tonight. The road was a little smoother tonight. Definitely a welcomed contrast to all the business crap we've had to get in order. Mind you, it's necessary crap, but it's crap nonetheless. Hopefully something good will turn up from all of this. (This is where I tell you to stay tuned for more details in the coming months).

Can anyone believe that U2 is putting out a Best Of? It's supposed to be a complete retrospective of the whole catalog, unlike the other Best Of 1980-90 and 1990-2000. I'm more than a little upset. They should be working on a proper album, damnit! What the hell is another Best Of going to do for them? I'm sure everyone else cares as much as I do. In the end, it doesn't really matter I guess. Rock music criticism is wholly unimportant, or so the quote goes (-ish).

Once again, I'm up much later than I would like to be with nothing but my thoughts and the New Radicals playing in the background. I'm off to bed, kiddies.

Shut up, you... I hear you laughing.

Cheers,
Henry
