How to Keep Busy In Saratoga Springs, NY
Aloud home movie #1: Saratoga Springs, NY: http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2018559702 ENJOY!!!! Cheers, Jen Wednesday, March 28, 2007 Bostonians! This year Aloud was invited to play the WBCN Rock n Roll Rumble. We'll be putting our gloves in the ring this Monday, April 2 at it's new location in Allston at Harper's Ferry. We're on second around 9:50pm. If you've been thinking about coming to a show now is the time. And of course we'll have those new songs that I keep raving about with us. Cheers, Jen PS. There'll be some press in the Metro and the Boston Globe's Sidekick this Friday. Monday, March 26, 2007 We had delightful little time this weekend though. Friday we headed out to Troy to play Positively Fourth Street. The show went well and we had a chance to catch up with our favorite bartender Patrick. Pat used to work at P4, but just opened his own resturant called the Golden Fox. We met up with him and his partner Joe there after they'd closed up. If you are in the area get your Sunday best on and check out the Golden Fox. The place is gorgeous and Pat is the best bartender you'll ever meet. Pat was good enough to put us up for the night and in the morning we were off to Saratoga Springs. I'd never been there before and the town is quite pretty. The main strip is pretty cool. It's filled with a bunch of restaurants and stores. We stopped in at Saratoga Guitars. It's a good thing we did coz I was able to buy a Traynor footswitch from them. This is the last little thing I was missing from when our pedals got stolen. It's been so hard to find one of these. This was a pretty awesome moment! Saratoga, I love you. After hanging around we went to the club to set up. All the folks at King's Tavern were super nice and so were all the locals. Very easy to talk to and they'd come right up and introduce themselves. We were lucky enough to have fellow Bostonians the Sterns with us as well. Anyway, thanks to King's Tavern. We'll try to come back in a couple of months. So all in all a good weekend. I think we ended up back in Boston around 4am or something. Also, please note that McDonald's at 3am or any time of the day is a BAD idea. We took a bit of video, so there should be a little something from the weekend coming up soon. Boston, we'll see you on April 2 for the Rock n Roll Rumble. Cheers, Jen
Friday, March 23, 2007 Of New York that is. Getting ready to head out tonite. We'll be in Troy tonight and Saratoga Springs tomorrow night. We're joined by fellow Bostononians the Sterns tomorrow at King's Tavern. Just got in the brand new drumhead we got done. I won't give any hints because it's just too good to ruin for you. New York you get first crack at it tonight. It really is quite awesome. We've bringing around a small lighting rig with us, so you'll get to check that out tonite as well. Next week will be our prelimanary round for the WBCN Rock n Roll Rumble. They're having it at Harper's Ferry this year. The good thing is the sound is really really fantastic. But we'll need you to come in and fill up that HUGE room. It can feel quite vast without your goreous bodies to fill up space and cheer us on. No excuse for not singing along all right? :) Ok, I should finish getting ready for tonite. Cheers, Jen
Monday, March 19, 2007 Quick note. I just added Release and Can You Hear Me Now? to the MySpace player. We've now got 5 tunes on there. Not a bad deal. So go on! Listen! Ross is back from San Diego (he was away for a week). Shows are in order this weekend in Troy, NY and Saratoga Springs, NY. Fun, fun, fun. There is more I could say, but let's wait. Squash the monster, Jen

MySpace bands... I'm putting you on notice (or, Beware the Ides of March)
Okay, it's time for me to say this to you, bands. Enough is enough. Spamming me, spamming this account, and spamming people will not get you more fans. I don't care what people do or don't do with their MySpace accounts. We're set up here to screen comments and things like this before they even make it onto our page. To be clear, I'm not talking to bands/musicians/manufacturing companies that take time to add people, make friends, send out invites .. networking, essentially. I'm talking to those of you who paid 20 bucks to get one of those robot programs that essentially spams everyone and a half on MySpace. I know being in a band is hard, and it's a constant daily struggle to get people's ears pointed your way. However, folks at large (and I'm lumping myself in there) are BOM-BAR-DED day in and day out with advertising, marketing, gimmicks, scams, popups, and spam. Seeing one of your "Hey! I noticed you were a fan of _____! Check this out!" makes me cringe and never want to listen to or watch your band ever. It's even slightly depressing. Why? Because it shows you don't care. It's probably an irrational response, because you could very well be the greatest ever in the history of music. But I guarantee you everyone is thinking the same thing: DELETE. The majority of people will give you the same attention they give to a McDonald's commercial. This is not for my benefit. Like I said, we screen comments, so in that sense I don't really care what you do. But if you continue with these shenanigans, you would be doing a disservice to yourselves and in a broader sense other bands and musicians that use MySpace without resorting to spam. Personally, I would rather see a friend request than some obviously mail-merged message in my inbox about your next single. For god's sake, connect with people. Or else, your next default MySpace pic may look like this: ![]() You are officially on notice. Cheers, Henry
Tuesday, March 13, 2007 Ok, I finally got around to really organizing our flickr page with the most up to date photos we've got. Click here to check out photos from this month's shows at the Luna Lounge and Great Scott as well as photos from the Beaches music video. We'll keep adding to this as we go on through the year. If YOU have any photos of us that you'd like to see up there from this year please send them to aloud@allthingsaloud.com and we'd be happy to add them to the collection. Cheers, Jen
Monday, March 12, 2007 A very quick note: Added some photos from last week's Great Scott show in the pics section. Hang tight while we organize our Flickr page. :) Cheers, Jen Saturday, March 10, 2007 Wow-wow-wee-wah! Thank you so much for coming everyone.. It took me a day and a half to really recover from the Great Scott show. We'll have some photos up from the show as soon as we get them. The year started off a little bumpy for us, but between this show and the Luna Lounge show in New York, things have been so great. Which reminds me, I saw a lot more flashes going off Thursday night, so if you've got photos send them our way: aloud@allthingsaloud.com. We'll put the best ones up on our Flickr account and give you full credit, of course. There's a way to set it up so you can instantly share photos, but I have to figure that out. It appears that at 24 my knowledge of technology is starting to slip. Seriously, 10 year olds are starting to kick my ass at Mario Kart.. what's with that? Mega thanks to everyone who came to rock out, Carl Lavin, Tim, Ben, and all the Great Scott staff for being nothing but supportive of us for years, Steve and Tom (who have also been supportive of us for years), Wyyymaaan, Copel (not to be confused with Copal), Big Lev the Lazy, Becky, Mark & Joni, Dave Palmer, Matt.... I could go on and on thinking of names— and I probably forgot someone, like a jerk—, but you all know who you are. And of course, congratulations to the BU Class of '07. I'm gushing, I know, but it's been a real good weekend. And although I have to return one of my pedals because it's on the fritz, I just found out the uber-rare footswitch for my Evil Twin amp just came in. Which means I can use it again. (If you are confused, please see this blog entry). We'll see you all at the Rumble in a few weeks.. Cheers, Henry Thursday, March 8, 2007
“The way for newspapers to meet the competition of radio and television...
...is simply to get out better papers" And boy, did the Metro take a giant leap forward by including us in the paper this morning! If you were unable to pick up a (very free) copy because of distance or laziness, then you can check it out in pdf format here. We're on page 16 (and a cute little graphic on the front page). Big thanks to Luke O'Neil for the writeup and all the nice folks at the Metro. So, what's new for today? Any long narratives about some obscure observation in Henry's life that's too mundane to be interesting, but not mundane enough that it's funny? No no.. Just a plug for a show tonight. Great Scott in Allston, kiddies. Tonight. And this is a special show, too. Why? Because Ross put this one together as a BU Senior Sendoff for... BU.. Seniors... being.. sent off... to... uhm... WHO LIKES TO PARTY?! This is certainly not limited to BU students, so if you just want to come see Aloud, you should come! We're playing the favorites as well as a handful of new songs. This will be our last show (in Boston before playing the Rumble). There's been confusion as of late over this, so to clear the air: This show is unequivocally 18+, and will last well after 11pm. Joining us for the evening are BU band Copel, Big Lev the Lazy makes his debut, and Mercutio will be spinning music the entire night. Who knows, we may even dress up nice for this. If you're the charitable kind (you are, aren't you?), a portion of tonight's proceeds will go to the Newton-Tanzania Collaborative. It's an organization that Ross started (remember his trip to Africa last year?) that links schools over here with schools in Tanzania to help 'em out with things they need. Let's review: Great Scott Tonight (March 8) 9 (ish) 1222 Comm. Ave. $8 18+ Green B Line to Harvard Ave. Bring hot friends. See ya tonight! Cheers, Henry P.S. Five points to whoever can tell me who said that quote without resorting to Google. Friday, March 2, 2007 It's very early in the morning, but I can quite fall asleep so I thought I'd say THANKS to everyone who came out to tonight's show at the Luna. It was great to get back to New York and you were the best crowd of the year thus far. Another thanks to Annie for filming and being manager extraordinaire (how the hell do you spell that?). We got to meet Rob from the Luna tonight. Very cool guy. All of you should really go check out that club. Beautiful space. More news is coming along... Next week you should have a new website to take a peak at as well as the official release of the video for Can You Hear Me Now? You'll be able to see that here on MySpace, on the website's new media player, and on YouTube. There'll also be the annoucement of some rather exciting news about a rather exciting event here in Boston. Stay tuned. Speaking of Boston, March 8 will be returning to Great Scott in Allston. right on the corner of Comm and Harvard Ave. Always a pleasure to play the neighborhood. Bostonians come show these New Yorkers what you got. This'll be a special send off night for seniors at Boston University, but all are truly welcome as we take this night to watch Ross go out in style (he'll be graduating from BU in May). Ok, I suppose I should try and get some sleep now... Cheers, Jen BLOG ARCHIVE
