Postage Paid

Hey everyone, Normally I don't like posting blogs n' such about anything remotely related to politics (at least I don't think I do... bitching is what my blog is for.. HA!). I'd like to pass this along because I think it's something important to at least look at. And if you're a cynic (like I can be), think of this as a chance to do something you don't want to do and beat yourself up about it afterwards haha.. But seriously, it's not about asking for your money or to pick a candidate or endorse anyone. All they'd like is for you to type up a letter they're going to send to the Iowa caucus-goers asking them to take a look at http://www.onevote08.org/otr. That link provides comparisons of each candidate's positions and plans on solving the AIDS epidemic and ending stupid, extreme poverty. Hell, even if you're short on time, or just plain lazy, they've got one all pre-typed and ready to go (all you need to do is attach your name). I'll stop here, cos they say it much better than I. The original email is below. Here's the link: http://www.onevote08.org/onetoone/index.html?t=2To see how everyone's individual platforms check out, go to http://www.onevote08.org/otrCheers, Henry In just three weeks, voting to choose our next president will begin—with the Iowa caucuses on January 3. I look with envy at those citizens in Iowa who have had a chance to meet the candidates up close and will soon cast a vote that will shape the 2008 election.
But just because you and I aren't there doesn't mean we have to be content to simply watch. We've created a new and easy way for each of us to change the race by taking the most powerful form of political action there is—talking directly with another voter. Write a letter to an Iowa caucus voter and make a direct connection "ONE to one." Send the message that their vote can help end extreme poverty and global disease.

Already in this campaign, your persistence has moved the presidential candidates to go on the record on extreme poverty and global disease in a way never seen before. As a result, we have video and in-depth comparisons of their plans at http://www.onevote08.org/ontherecord.
Now is the time to intensify our efforts and bring our issues and resources directly to the Iowa voters who will have such a huge role in picking the next president. "ONE to one," all of us can ask an Iowa voter to visit the On The Record site, learn about the issues, and then go caucus for the candidate who will do the most to build a better future for the world's most vulnerable people.

Every four years, about 200,000 Iowans take part in caucus night. Help us to send a letter to each and every one of those voters. We have added some ideas and facts to get you started but, in the end, the most inspirational poverty-fighting message will come from your heart. No one speaks with as much passion about the opportunity that we have to eliminate extreme poverty and global disease than individual ONE members.
To highlight that dedication, the ONE team here will pick ten of the very best letters from across the country and send them to an additional group of 40,000 Iowans whom we know will raise their voices on caucus night. So get writing for the opportunity to send a letter to the voters who will play such an influential role in choosing the candidates for the presidency.

In the next few weeks, Iowans will be flooded with every kind of slick political advertisement imaginable. Through the simple act of writing a letter, from one person to another, you can cut through the clutter and ask an Iowa voter to consider extreme poverty at the caucuses on January 3.
The stakes are high in the upcoming election and we have the opportunity to aggressively advance the fight against extreme poverty and global disease. A year from now, our next president will be preparing to take office. As we enter the holiday season next year, I want to know that I did everything I could to help elect a president who shares our priorities.
Gratefully,

Many thanks to you kind folk who braved last night's fierce winds and frozen ice to come see us play. It was a fun night and I'm glad to hear you're all digging the new stuff. Oh and the Patriots won too! Woohoo! December is upon us. Time to try and relax and enjoy what's around you. It's nice when things slow down a bit. We'll be away finishing things for the upcoming record and plotting away. More gigs have and are being booked including an acoustic performance at T.T.'s with Henry and myself plus a very special farewell gig for Scamper in Feb. Cheers, Jen
