Wait wait don’t you go (and so on)

Crap, I'm dyin' here. Things are inexplicably busier than usual at work, and with the album/tour/crap crap going on I get little reprieve when I get home. Life of a rock star my ass!

Is it worth it? Sure. I mean, things could be worse, right? Like... I could be on the cast of the Real World or something. (ZING!)

Don't listen to me. I've been cranky all week.

Before you check out any Aloud-related linkage I'm about to throw at you, here's something you should check out first:
http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2008/01/david-lee-roth.html

David Lee Roth's isolated vocal track from Running With The Devil. Is it wrong to take a singer's vocal track and listen to it out of context? You bet. (Thanks to Mr. Tom Radio America Stuart for that gem.)

Sooooooooo we'll be playing another show this weekend (Saturday, to be precise). This show is actually very special for two reasons: a) It'll be the first time we play the Middle East Downstairs and
play for more than 10 people, and b) this, ladies and germs, will be Scamper's final show ever.* Check out The Scene for Nate's multi-part retrospective on Scamper. If sentimental oeuvres aren't your thing, check out Brendan's Journal for oblique references to scatalogical pedo-necrophilia.

We've known Scamper for almost as long as we've been a band, so it'll be sad to see them go. (By "go", I mean they'll be splintering off into the
Brendan Boogie Band.) Come on down and have a good cry with us. With Nate. Have a good cry with Nate.

I don't cry.

I'm a robot.

BZZZZZZZRRZRZZRZZZZZZ,
H.E.N.R.Y.

P.S. Be our Facebook friend already, goddamnit! C'maaaaaaaaaaan!

We’re Putting Out A Record?

Yes. In fact we are. Ah, folks we are truly happy to be in the stages of preparing this record for release. And for getting back on the road that calls us. Sleepless nights and too many drinks; bad food and big mouths. And of course, seeing you all once again. Sit tight and it will come.

In the meantime, we've got a couple of shows in Boston next month to keep you busy. The first is with Aloud's most beloved friends Scamper for their last show. Yes, many a night you heckled us boys and now you're breaking up! No, I'm only kidding. We will miss seeing the boys on stage together, but we're more than thrilled to be a part of their Last Waltz happening on Saturday, February 2nd. We open the show at 9PM and will be joined by our pals in Harris and Baker. Really what more could you ask for?

This show deserves to sell out and is likely to, so you'll want to purchase your tickets here. Also, purchasing tickets in advance will save you some money. You can also buy them at the Middle East Box Office in person. This show is 18+.

For those of you who enjoyed Henry and mine's acoustic set this month at T.T.'s we've got another one coming up for you. Friday, February 8th we'll be playing a benefit for Students For A Free Tibet at the Middle East Corner stage. As you may know the Olympics are happening in China this year and these shows are meant to raise some money and awareness about China's human rights violations in Tibet and indeed to support the Tibetan Olympic Team. This night the whole band will take the stage. This show is 18+ with a suggested donation of $5. We start the show at 10:30PM and are followed by two fantastic act: Ad Frank and Rick Berlin.

Hope to see you guys there. :)

Cheers,

Jen

With your booksmarts, and my ability to *exploit* people with booksmarts...

I'm not going to lie. I'm excited about tonight's show, kiddos. I posted this in a bulletin, but I may as well do it here too. We're on Facebook. Please be our friend on Facebook. If you don't have Facebook, get Facebook. Once you have Facebook and added us as your friend, invite yourself on the event page for tonight's show. This will have no effect other than to boost my ego. Step 3 is to actually go to this show. If you miss this show, you'd better be dead, or in jail.

If you're in jail, break out.

ANYWAY, I've restarted my groove with reading, I'm happy to report. I thought recording the album would provide me with time to kick-start the old book wagon in my brain, but instead it had the opposite effect and I didn't read a damn thing for about three or four months. I just got through Slaughterhouse Five as my first book of the year (finally!!). It was required reading in junior year of high school, but I didn't read it. My second attempt was a colossal failure that ended with me giving up 1/3 of the way through and hating the book. Now: I get it. It's funny. It's great. It's a little bizarre. Vonnegut is aces with me.

I'm also concurrently reading Nick Hornby's Slam. Not quite High Fidelity, but still enjoyable enough. I'd probably enjoy it a little better if I was 15. Or a skater. This one will probably be slow going since I refuse to take it out of my apartment; mostly because A) I borrowed it from a friend, and B) it's a signed copy. Apart from that, I'm tackling Ham on Rye by Bukowski. Jen's just finished reading it and she's been going on about it, so why the hell not? I have a friend who basically thinks he's the poor man's Ginsberg, but I like what I've read so far.

Anyway, if anyone would like to throw some book recommendations my way, please do so (I know I've posted this in other blogs.. sue me). I'm trying to hit 50 books this year in an effort to convince myself that I'm not a total ignoramus.
Moohoohaaahaaahaaaaaa...

See you tonight!

Cheers,
Henry
