This past week's madness

In yet another strange turn, I was able to go to bed at a decent hour, but could not stay asleep past 3:30 AM. Which can only mean it's blog time!

Last week was incredibly busy/fun/exhausting, beginning with Sunday night. We went into the WFNX studio to do an interview for New England Product, which our pal Dave recently began hosting on a regular basis. I was always a fan of FNX, but I have to say I was really impressed and the passion for music there was palpable. One thing that really knocked me out was a simple printout framed on the studio wall titled Four Rules For Working at FNX. I can't remember the last three for the life of me, but the first one was enough:

1. Always respect the music.

We had a laugh with Dave, and had a few interesting calls while we were off the air. I plan to post the interview up on the website by the end of the month. Unless I'm lazy. Then you'll have to wait.

We need to get this album out post haste.

Tuesday, Jen and I went to the Middle East Christmas party. It was fun hanging out with some people we don't get to see too often. Plus, the food was phenomenal. And free. Didn't stick around for too long, though. Got crowded, and I was pretty tired.

Wednesday, a very nice article came out about us in a paper started by B.U. students (The Source). You can read the article here.

Friday was probably the most exhausting day. Actually, no, it was definitely the most exhausting day. We did the FOX 25 Morning News show that morning, which meant getting up at the crack of dawn to be there at 6:45am. First thing, some young intern girl asks us if we're "the guys with the alcohol". We thought news journalism was decadent, but this was outrageous! (Turns out they were doing a segment on holiday drinks). Everyone there was extremely nice and very accomodating. We talked to the weather guy, A.J. Burnett, and found out that drumming is one of his hobbies. Kim Carrigan interviewed us and we went right into Beaches. The monitor situation there isn't nearly as bad as I've heard through the grapevine. It sounded great over there, but the mix that came through the TV wasn't the greatest (very little bass, fluctuating guitar volume, weak drums). But hell, I can't honestly complain since we were on TV. I plan to post the video next month on the site.

The trouble with such an early morning like that is that it screws you up when you have to play a late gig the same night. We all took naps, but that didn't seem to help much. Still, the gig at the Pill was fun (even though we were pretty worn out by the time we hit the stage-- 11:15pm). We set up the stage with Christmas lights, balloons.. during Beaches, Jen left the stage to take a few Polariods with the audience. Roy was in a festive mood and wore a Santa hat most of the night. Our pal (from Unbusted) Ben was doing sound that night, and was messing around with recording the set as well. I might wind up posting that if and when that goes through. Damn good sound man, though. Lots of people were telling us how clear everything sounded. We were going to have an afterparty at our place, but at close to 3am, everyone including us was ready to pass out. Just one of those Fridays, I guess, but it was welcomed. I desperately needed the sleep, and (not counting a useless nap) was nearly up for 24 hours.

But anyway, I want to thank everyone who came on Friday, who have supported us this week (and beyond this week), and anyone who's ever helped us out in any way. I often say that I still feel I'm in that band that has trouble bringing out more than 2 people to a show on a weekend, so the support you all give is sincerely appreciated.

Okay.. I should probably.. well.. I'd love to go to bed, but unfortunately it's 7:00am. D'oh!

Cheers,
Henry
