With your booksmarts, and my ability to *exploit* people with booksmarts...

I'm not going to lie. I'm excited about tonight's show, kiddos. I posted this in a bulletin, but I may as well do it here too. We're on Facebook. Please be our friend on Facebook. If you don't have Facebook, get Facebook. Once you have Facebook and added us as your friend, invite yourself on the event page for tonight's show. This will have no effect other than to boost my ego. Step 3 is to actually go to this show. If you miss this show, you'd better be dead, or in jail.

If you're in jail, break out.

ANYWAY, I've restarted my groove with reading, I'm happy to report. I thought recording the album would provide me with time to kick-start the old book wagon in my brain, but instead it had the opposite effect and I didn't read a damn thing for about three or four months. I just got through Slaughterhouse Five as my first book of the year (finally!!). It was required reading in junior year of high school, but I didn't read it. My second attempt was a colossal failure that ended with me giving up 1/3 of the way through and hating the book. Now: I get it. It's funny. It's great. It's a little bizarre. Vonnegut is aces with me.

I'm also concurrently reading Nick Hornby's Slam. Not quite High Fidelity, but still enjoyable enough. I'd probably enjoy it a little better if I was 15. Or a skater. This one will probably be slow going since I refuse to take it out of my apartment; mostly because A) I borrowed it from a friend, and B) it's a signed copy. Apart from that, I'm tackling Ham on Rye by Bukowski. Jen's just finished reading it and she's been going on about it, so why the hell not? I have a friend who basically thinks he's the poor man's Ginsberg, but I like what I've read so far.

Anyway, if anyone would like to throw some book recommendations my way, please do so (I know I've posted this in other blogs.. sue me). I'm trying to hit 50 books this year in an effort to convince myself that I'm not a total ignoramus.
Moohoohaaahaaahaaaaaa...

See you tonight!

Cheers,
Henry
