If enough have our backs to the wall
As Jen mentioned in a previous blog, we'll be playing a special acoustic show this Friday. Why so special? It's a benefit for Students For a Free Tibet.
With this year's Olympics being held in Beijing, the group has organized a campaign to bring awareness to the human rights abuses in China leading up to the Olympic Games. There's a good article on this show in the Boston Herald that explains the deal much better than I, so check it out: http://news.bostonherald.com/entertainment/music/general/view.bg?articleid=1071542&srvc=home&position=recent Let's not kid ourselves. It's easy for things like this to turn into a clichéd cause célèbre (look at that, and I don't even know French!), especially when you consider that Tibet has been occupied by the Chinese since 1950. But this is still a pretty big deal when you've got the Chinese government still pulling the kind of crap they do on people. It's unacceptable. It's easy to understand the feeling of helplessness in something this large, but there are things you can do to help. For a list of things as simple as texting "teamtibet" to 67463 or creating your own video, visit www.beijingweareready.com to see how you can help. I've gotta run, but the info for the show and some other stuff you should check out are below. Hope you all can make it!
