Lord Don't Slow Me Down

A few things:
  • Anyone who's into Oasis (or band documentaries) should check this out. Free screenings to the new docu, just email an RSVP. If anyone's going to the Boston (but really, Cambridge) screening hit me up. (Trailer is here if you're curious: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xUUZb5NdwY ).
  • Speaking of trailers, color me nerd (NERD!), but the new Spider-Man movie looks like it's going to kick ass. (Shh... the leaked trailer with Venom is here, for fellow nerdboys. Quickly, before it's taken down.)
  • This blog isn't going very well, is it?
I made the mistake today (among other mistakes) of taking a nap around 8pm. Woke up at 1am, haven't been able to sleep since. Feels like I've been wearing myself down lately, I should probably cool it. Go vegetarian (yea, right), try some transcendental meditation or something trendy-yet-probably-helpful like that. Perhaps do a better job of keeping in touch with my family. Feels like I haven't spoken to them at all in months. This is untrue, of course— I'm just absolutely horrible when it comes to returning anyone's phonecalls. Not being constantly on the road is killing me. I might have a touch of cabin fever.

I had way too much fun this weekend, though. This includes spending the hours of 12pm-8pm on Saturday with Roy playing Gears of War (NERD!).

Been reading Johnny Cash's autobiography, courtesy of Kris. It's good stuff, I highly recommend it.

But not the same way I recommended the new Killers album. Turns out it didn't take, and it's not all that great. A couple of good songs on there, and my opinion on what a great song When You Were Young hasn't changed. But the rest feels like they tried too hard and overshot. Best comment on the album was from Pitchfork (yea, yea, I know): " aiming for Springsteen and missing even slightly results in Meat Loaf". I don't hate the album though, and I suppose they get points for trying to do something outside of their comfort zone. Or not. What the hell do I know? I'm listening to it now anyway. How's that for ya? (NERD!)

Also, my admission that this album basically sucks should not indicate my support for the Bravery. You hear me Roy? THERE WILL BE A RUCKUS. AND FISTICUFFS.

Blogging isn't helping me sleep, and I've gotta be up in about three hours. Jay-sus. But it's all good. The thought of calling out of work tomorrow is crossing my mind, but I mustn't (responsibility and whatnot). Already taking a day off for the holiday this week. Roy, Jen's sister Ale, and myself are headed down to North Carolina to meet up with Jen this Wednesday. Something like a 14 hour drive. Should be fun. Or absolutely horrible.

Oh right, I must do the band thing and plug the hell out of our show on the 29th.

Robbers on High Street, the Shills, and The Televangelist and the Architect. I've been hearing some noise about the Shills lately, all good. Should be a good time. Middle East Upstairs. The show's 18+, and if you buy tickets at the Middle East box office you save a little money. Get your tickets here, if Ticketbastard is your thing:

I'm heading down to Central Square at some point early this week, so if anyone wants me to get tickets for them, let me know and we'll work something out.

My pal Beca (I've special permission to call her Becky) took a shitload of photos at the Bill's show. Those should be up and about as soon as we can sort through them all. When I say shitload, I mean it. Something like 650 photos, whittled down to 230, which needs to be brought down to something reasonable. Like.... 12. A bunch of them were taken rapidly in sequence, so it almost looks like a movie. I made a little animation of it, but the thing's like 85 MB. So... no. (NERD!)

Cheers,
Henry
