Friday night arrives without a suitcase

There's four sampler tracks of the "new" Beatles Love album. I'm really digging it, and I'm really overwhelmed by it. Lady Madonna, with Hey Bulldog somehow fitting over it and Eric Clapton's solo from While My Guitar Gently Weeps playing as well. Somehow it all fits together nicely. Speaking of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, the demo version from Anthology 3 is on there now with strings. Fucking gorgeous. Can't stop listening to it. I love that band. When it comes to music, whenever I'm lost that band is my center. Like being wrapped up in your favorite blanket.

My blanket of the moment happens to be Sgt. Pepper.

You can listen to the four sampler tracks here:http://www.nme.com/mediaPlayer&function=right&playlist_id=745&unsigned=

And oddly enough, my three favorite bands of all time are putting out records of rehashed material on the same day. Oasis (Stop the Clocks) and U2 (U218) are putting out Best Of's, as well as the fabs with Love. I'm kinda happy about the Oasis best of, even though there are absolutely no new songs on it. Conversely, I'm disappointed about the U2 best of, even though there are two new songs on it. I can understand that it's supposed to coincide with their Beatles Anthology-esque autobiography, but they've already got two (count 'em) Best Of's already out there (one of them was put out just three, four years ago). What the hell, guys?

Gonna go to the Oasis screening tomorrow at the Kendall for Lord Don't Slow Me Down. Very excited about that. I love band-on-the-road type documentaries.

Finally saw Borat tonight. It was excellent, but I've seen the Borat skits on Ali G for a while. Not to take away from the movie, but I think the skits were better. All the same, I'd recommend the movie to everyone I know. Especially if you won't get it. There's something great about that humor, catching people unawares and on camera.

Finally got around to working on a demo. That makes me happy.

Anything else?

Why, yes:
